sun, sea and sand!
Have been here a few days now and am certainly getting into the caribbean spirit - not doing very much during the day and going out on the razzle in the evening. Went out the other night to a bar - which turned into a club with an Ali G type DJ after 10pm - and sampled many of the local beverages. Needless to say I was tiddly in no time, but even that wasn’t enough to block out the appalling dutch music blasting out of the speakers. It was playing the exact same happy hardcore music I listened to when I was about 13 (I was going through a phase of listening to shite), all the dutch were going crazy. It was pretty odd. The pubs and clubs are mostly full of dutch people (it’s a dutch-owned island), all massively tall, blonde and beautiful, so am enjoying feeling like a dwarf. It’s Friday today, so another big night out is planned - think we’re starting at some place with Happy hour, so it’ll probably go downhill from there and I’ll be a puddle on the floor at around 11 ish (don’t worry mum!). Off to the beach for yet another snooze now, will write again soon xx

sounds as if your getiing into pack back style..lol steve

Hi Hon, I’m back from skiing now. We had a great week. Had a nutter of an instructor who took us down a black run on the first day & later took us down the Olymic Mens & Womens downhill black slopes. Needless to say I spent a least 2 occasions of each day scared at the top of a mountain wondering how the hell I was going to get to the bottom. & there was no slowing him up either so you just had to go for it & force yourself not to look at the slope ahead which looked like you were about to drop off the side of a cliff. It was all part of the fun though & it’s great to say I’ve been down an Olympic slope. Wish I was with you on a gorgeous island in the sun, by the sea instead of back at work…. If only I could win the lottery!! I’m having a little party this Friday, a pre b’day party. Cal, Amy & even Kate T are coming. Kate’s feeling better this week so I’ve made her promise not to go out so she doesn’t bugger herself up before Friday. Anyway love, you keep enjoying every moment of your travels. Speak to you soon. Hola chica! Que envidia!!! Sounds like you are having the most amazing time. Ad you will know from Jen’s blog we have all been trying to work out how to get hold of you and now I have at last! Glad to hear you are having fun. I don’t know what your plans are but I just thought I’d let you know that michael and I are going to be in Costa Rica from April 30th until May 13th. It’s probably not on your route but it is pretty close to where you are now so i thought I’d let you know as along shot in case our paths coincided….. I’m very excited about that. we are stopping over in New York for 2 nights… not flying with iberia you’ll be glad to know.
Apart from that no real news to report… just the usual DIY and rainy bank holiday….
Anyway, keep having fun and speaking lots of Spanish and looking forward to reading your next posting.
Cuidate.
un beso,
niki xx
